Surf & Service

Join Us for Surf & Service

June Surf Term provides a comprehensive experience beyond academics and adventure by incorporating community service initiatives for rising 8th-12th graders. Students and staff dedicate 6-8 hours per week to meaningful projects, collaborating with organizations like Costas Verdes for tree planting, participating in beach clean-ups, and contributing to Pack for a Purpose initiatives. Additionally, they will work with Centro Aquatico Nosara's swimming program and the David Kitson Library, along with other Amigos of Costa Rica partners in Nosara.

In addition to these activities, students devote 3 hours per week to conversational Spanish lessons led by a local instructor known for her effective teaching methods. Our dedicated instructor ensures that students of all proficiency levels excel in Spanish, as demonstrated by their ability to deliver presentations in the language after just two class meetings during Surf Term 2022.

Students will surf 8-9 times per week (up to 16 hours) with Safari Surf School’s ISA-certified instructors.

  • Surf & Service focuses on three primary areas of mastery (self/physical/academic) – that path is built with new habits of health (both physical and mental), learning new ways of self-direction, time-management, project execution, leveraging adaptive learning platforms, and gaining new leadership skills. In order to begin a journey of mastery in these areas June Surf Term uses adaptive learning platforms, physical training, and cross-discipline projects.
